MEDICAL ASSISTANT COURSE FOR OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH CENTRE (MACOHC- 52th Batch) Organized by IAOH VADODARA ( Six Consecutive Sundays)

Introduction:- Qualified trained paramedical personnel with orientation in Occupational Health are an asset in day to day functioning of Occupational Health Centre of Gujarat. Such trained ‘Medical Assistants’ can help and support Occupational Health Physicians in carrying out various types of Medical Examinations and related activities in Occupational Health Centre in Industries of Gujarat. Since 2003, Indian Association of Occupational Health, Vadodara (IAOH) has undertaken a short term training Programmer to develop qualified and trained Medical Assistants of Occupational Health Centre. The training is spread out over Six Consecutive Sundays so as to enable Industries depute their existing Health Care personnel working in Occupational Health Centre. The training consists of theoretical and practical training and orientation given by Senior experienced Occupational Health Physicians of Vadodara. IAOH Vadodara has successfully completed Forty nine (49 th batch) at various location like Vadodara, Ankleshwar, Surat, Bharuch, & Vapi. IAOH has trained 997 delegates from more than 215 industries of Gujarat. Indian Association of Occupational Health Vadodara appeals to all its members and Industries of Gujarat to take advantage of this unique training programme to train their persons working in OHC.

Objectives:-

• To identify and to train paramedical/health workers for performing as Medical Assistant in Industrial & Medical Health Centers of Gujarat.
• To equip, train and enhance skills, knowledge and attitude of Medical Assistants to perform efficiently and effectively in various industrial health and medical centers.
• To develop an efficient cadre of paramedical health workers who can team with medical professionals for better effectiveness in rendering health care in industrial and other medical centers of Gujarat.

Essential Qualification:

Male/Female 10th Pass candidates with six months to one year of experience of working in Industrial/dispensaries of Qualified Medical Practitioners of Modern System of Medicine. Graduates will be given preference. Knowledge of English/Hindi/Gujarati is essential. Preference will be given to Candidates nominated by Industries.

Nursing/Paramedics trained in recognized Nursing Institutes & working in Industries/NGOs/Agencies are eligible too,

Syllabus:-

Paper I

• 1. Occupational Health – Components
• 2. First Aid and Management of Industrial Emergencies
• 3. Legislations applicable to Functioning of Occupational Health Centre

Paper II

• 1. Management Related aspects of Occupational Health Centre
• 2. Pharmacy and Related Issues.
• 3. Basic Knowledge about Anatomy & Physiology of the Human Body

Demonstrative exercises:-

ECG, Spirometry, Audiometry, Medical (Clinical) Examination, CPR, Stretcher exercise.

Faculty of the Course:-

Qualified and professional Experts from different Occupational Health Industries from Baroda who have specialized knowledge and experience in the respective fields.

Pattern of Training:-

Considering the objective of the course, the candidates of the course will be put to study and rigorous training of Practical aspects of managing an Occupational Health Centre. Two visits to Occupational Health Centre is compulsory for all the Candidates and will be organized between 5 th & 6 th Sunday of the course.

Evaluation and Assessment:-

The candidates having 80% presence will be allowed to take the examination. The candidates will have to undergo a Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) type of (written examination).

Certification:-

A Certificate of Participation will be given by IAOH, Vadodara to delegates with satisfactory attendance

Fees of the Course:-

Rs.7000/- (Seven Thousand only) to be paid by DD/On Par cheque in favor of ‘IAOH Vadodara payable at Vadodara Branch only.

The Application form may be filled in and sent with the following:-

• 1) Two Passport size Photographs
• 2) SSC Certificate/School Leaving Certificate showing date of birth
• 3) Recommendation letter from Industry/Industrial Physician
• 4) Demand Draft/On Par Cheque of Rs 7000/- (Rupees Seven Thousand Only) in favor of “Indian Association of Occupational Health, Vadodara”.
